The Sherwood Chorale is made up of adults of all ages, and a select few 11th & 12th grade high school students. They sing a variety of music including pop, Broadway, jazz, art and folks songs, spirituals, and sacred and secular music.
The Sherwood Chorale recently celebrated their 10 Year anniversary. To celebrate this milestone a commemorative video was shown at the May 2014 benefit concert. Click here to see this video and learn about why the Chorale was formed, hear testimonials from choir members, and see highlights of the concerts over the years. Happy Birthday Sherwood Chorale!
Adults. Students in 11th and 12th grade may also audition and join.
An audition is required for new members only. Auditions are held each September with limited auditions sometimes available in January. See the Choir Audition page to sign up. Balance in the sections of the choir is always a priority so openings depend on the number of people returning, but usually the choir roster is around 32-48 members. Most members have sung in many previous choirs including high school, college and community choirs. Download an audition form to bring with you.
The Chorale rehearses September through May with a break after the Christmas show.
The Sherwood Chorale requires its members to pay $15 per concert term to help pay for music, awards and choir expenses. This is due before or at the first rehearsal. Women are to provide and wear long black skirts, black shoes and hosiery. Men are to provide black pants, shoes and socks and white &/or black button up long sleeve shirts. Choir blouses, and jewelry are extra fees. Members may purchase a polo shirt with the logo Sherwood Chorale on it for $15. This is optional.
The Sherwood Chorale performs at the two main VPA concerts each year in December and May. See our VPA Choir Calendar for specific dates.
